Comfort Food

Another weekend and another cold snap. Saturday's high was only 12. With this in mind, when I left work on Friday, I headed straight to Jewel on Roosevelt and picked up groceries. I already had the pot roast so I needed some carrots and potatos and the can of French Onion soup.
I got up at 3:00 am on Saturday and started to assemble the ingredients for the crockpot. Dump the half of the bag of carrots in the bottom. Then cut 2 potatos into slices and layer them on top. I then put the pot roast in the pot and poured the soup on top. Fianlly spices and cover. Seven hours later the goodness was ready, as seen in the top photo!
Today I used the crockpot to make beef vegtable soup. It came out very good but no pictures!

I'ts not so Angry!

Ok cabin fever has got the best of me and I just had to get out. Burger King has this new Whopper sandwich they are calling the Angry Whopper, so I went down the the BK at Archer and Ashland and tried it out. Just like many people on the web has mentioned it isn't angry it more annoyed than anything :D
I barely broke into a sweat and the orange soda killed any heat the burger had. They must be using some sort of mild jalpanos because the heat factor was low. They also use pepperjack cheese and put on an onion ring. The angry sauce was actually good. I would buy it again

Snowstorm!

During a Lull, originally uploaded by kendoman26.

First real snowstorm of the new year and I think the second major snowstorm of the season. This despite the fact that it was a very snowy December.

View outside my north facing windows. I'm sure it hasn't stopped for the day but were only between systems. The roofs of the houses have those canopies again :)

Happy New Year -

Tom Ping Park Pavillion, originally uploaded by kendoman26.

The Tom Ping Park with it's Pavillion in the forground.

This being the last long weekend for a while and with temps in the mid-twenties I decided to take the 44 to Archer and then walk to the park.

Tom Ping Park which has been opened for about ten years, replaced Chinatown's park that was destroyed in building the Dan Ryan Expressway.
