This morning was the 4th annual Chicago Car Cruze. Antique cars (at least 25 years old) may participate in a cruise down, Columbus and MIchigan from Roosevelt to Jackson.
This little guy is a BMW Isetta. a very small car for maybe two people. the door is at the front and the steering wheel swings out. I think it's plate is appropriate.

Mermaid Building
Sometimes you find things that can't be explained. On Thursday evening I meet up with people from the Chiflickr group and we explored the neighboorhood of Pilsen.
This mermaid themed building can be found just north of 18th at Blue Island. We think it's somehow martial art's related but not 100 percent sure. It sure makes it easy to order pizza :)

Church for Sale
I think this is sort of sad. A Church for sale. It looks like it's in very good shape so it must have closed recently. I really like the bell tower, It sort of reminds me of those model churches you put out during Christmas time.

Chicago Avenue Discount Stores
Saturday was such a wonderful day to get out of the house. So I did. I decided to take a bus up to the Ukrainian Village neighborhood and walk around. From there I decided to walk down Chicago Avenue. I started at Hoyne and walked to Halsted. It was a nice walk.
This picture represents a typical block along Chicago Avenue. There are a lot of discount stores. This is a nice block of 19th century buildings still being used as intended. Stores on the main level with apartments above.

Saturday was the first National Train Day sponsored by AMTRAK. Here is the stage in the Great Hall at Union Station.
May 10th was chosen to celebrate National Train Day because it's the anniversary of the connection of the Union Pacific and Western Pacific railroads.
